November 2008 UPHA Board Meeting Minutes

February 27, 2009

Present: Donna Bailey, Sallie Ricks, Kay Leager, Milt Rhodes, Paul Blankenship, Catherine Maxwell, Joe Boisvert, Marie Vedetta


Bowling Alley – Report from Blaine Smith to report on opening of the renovated bowling alley and request to city for full ABC permit.

Minutes – approved with correction of name to read “Allen Hutchison” on item 16. Motion made and passed that minutes will include who was present and absent. Make two versions – one formatted for website, one with assigned action items. Review format for web posts at next meeting.

Treasurer’s report – There was no treasurer’s report.

Family Christmas Party – December 7 at 6:30 at Red, Hot and Blue. Since November meeting was held December 1 there will be no December board meeting.

Newsletter – City of Raleigh will defray costs of newsletter by printing up to three times per year.

Trash pick-up – City will also help with events trash pick-up. Discussion on neighborhood clean-up day andinterest in having another in mid-May.

Hillsborough Street Partnership – Last meeting December 5 at Pullen Arts Center; committee will then evolve into Business Improvement District (BID).

Isabella Cannon Park – Comments from board shared at last meeting. Committee gave good feedback on all comments. Next public meeting will be held on December 9 at Church of Christ. City only sends out information to within 100 feet of park, so the decision was made to notify all UPHA members via postcard or email blast, depending on their communication preference.

Nominating Committee – Meeting planned for first week of January. Committee: Joe, Jamie, Lisa have agreed to serve. Five are needed.

General membership meeting – February 9 at Church of Christ.

Advertising Update – Donna has obtained commitments from 5 businesses to advertise on the UPHA website. All were encouraged to continue to sell advertisements.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30.
